Echinacea Ruby Giant
Echinacea ‘Ruby Giant’ is a truly spectacular Echinacea with massive 7 inch (17cm) fragrant ruby pink flowers with a central orange-brown cone. Flowers increase in size over the first 2-3 years of growing. Flowers have a double row of petals, profuse and held on strong upright stems to a height of up to 75cm tall. Flowers over a prolonged period Summer-Autumn. Echinacea comes from the Greek word “echinos” meaning hedgehog in reference to the flower’s spiny centre cone.Echinacea ‘Ruby Giant’ is easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best in full sun. An adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. Does not however like extrememly low pH soil conditions. Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (about every 4 years). Plants usually re-bloom without deadheading, however prompt removal of spent flowers improves general appearance
